ECO vs TOP Thermal Paper – What's the Difference?

ECO thermal paper (55 g/m²) is the most economical choice for short-term labeling: shipping labels for e-commerce, receipts, retail scale labels. Print legibility lasts 6-12 months in typical warehouse conditions. TOP thermal paper (62-70 g/m²) has an additional protective coating that extends print life to 2 years, protects against moisture, UV, and mild chemical exposure. TOP paper is essential for refrigerated products, freezer applications, outdoor labels, and documents requiring long-term archival readability. For extreme conditions (chemicals, solvents, long-term industrial use), we recommend upgrading to thermal transfer labels on PP or PET film with resin ribbon.

Standard Sizes for Different Industries

Our thermal labels come in a wide range of sizes to fit every application. 100×150 mm is the shipping label standard - compatible with DPD, DHL, UPS, FedEx, GLS, and all major couriers in the EU. 100×170 mm is often used for international shipments with customs documentation. 58×40 mm is the retail scale standard for meat, produce, and bakery departments. 40×30 mm and 30×20 mm are popular for product labels in pharmacy, cosmetics, and electronics. 148×210 mm (A5) is used for pallet labels with GS1-128 codes and VDA 4902 automotive standards. Desktop printers: Zebra ZD series (ZD220, ZD420, ZD620), TSC DA series, Godex DT4x, Honeywell PC42 - they use rolls with 25 mm (1 inch) core and 127 mm maximum roll diameter. Industrial printers: Zebra ZT series, Honeywell PM series, SATO CL4NX, Datamax H-class - they accept rolls with 76 mm core and up to 450 mm diameter for extended print runs. Mobile printers: Zebra ZQ series, Brother RJ series use smaller 57 mm rolls for receipts and mobile POS. We stock rolls in all standard core sizes and wind directions (face-in and face-out).

Adhesive Types for Different Applications

Adhesive selection is as important as the label material itself. Permanent adhesive (PE80, H20) is the standard for most shipping and warehouse applications - high initial tack and long-term holding power. Removable adhesive (RR21) leaves no residue when peeled - ideal for promotional labels, temporary identification, or removable price tags. Deep-freeze adhesive (H22, F900) maintains adhesion down to -40°C - essential for frozen food, ice cream packaging, and cold-chain logistics. Repositionable adhesive allows labels to be repositioned multiple times before final placement - useful for manual application with operator adjustment. For food contact applications, we offer ISEGA-certified and BRC/IFS-compliant adhesives.
